A WAY TO COMPOSE PEOMS

It was a fun exercise curated by a MFA student in Anne West's writing class at RISD. We were assigned a random piece of writing in English literature, and were asked to highlight the words captured our eyes while reading, without thinking, instinctively. This piece born from coincidence turned out to be one of my favorite poems.





My time was ruined and abandoned
The objects I encountered
Met my eyes, everywhere, day and hours
I was resolved
In the deserted portion
Before my stay on earth
The better part of the morning 
Climb up and down half-ruined staircase
The paving
Lay directly beneath my feet
Pausing
